Paul Ambrose Outstanding Student Activist Award
The American Medical Student Association (AMSA) has a rich history of activism, advocating for causes like civil rights, universal health care, and social justice since its split from the AMA in 1967. This award honors the late Paul Ambrose, a trailblazing AMSA leader and activist.
As AMSA’s Legislative Affairs Director in 1995, Paul created the AMSA Political Leadership Institute, advancing health policy and advocacy education for medical students. His passion for change continued throughout his career, working on policy initiatives with the US Department of Health and Human Services until his life was tragically cut short on September 11, 2001.
