You’re registered. You’ve got the dates saved. Now what?
Future Physicians for Change (FP4C) isn’t just a conference—it’s a whole vibe. Whether you’re a returning changemaker or a first-time attendee wondering what to pack (spoiler: comfy shoes and your stethoscope brain), we’ve got you covered.
We asked past attendees what they wish they knew before attending FP4C. Here’s what they said, plus a few of our own pro tips.
1. Get Curious, Not Just Credentialed
“I went in thinking it would just be another résumé builder. I left with a renewed sense of why I want to be a doctor.” —Past FP4C Attendee
Yes, there are killer sessions and inspiring speakers. But the magic happens when you show up with questions, not just a notebook. Say yes to the unexpected: sit in on a session outside your specialty, spark a convo with a med student from another state, or try your hand at live advocacy.
2. Shoot Your Shot (Networking Edition)
“I met someone I later co-authored a research paper with just by saying hi at lunch.”
Bring your LinkedIn, your social handles, and your confidence. FP4C is full of future collaborators, mentors, and maybe even besties. Don’t know how to break the ice? Ask what session they just came from or what they’re most excited to attend.
3. Plan, But Don’t Overplan
“I packed every session into my schedule and almost missed the hallway conversations that mattered most.”
It’s tempting to register for every panel, poster, and breakout. Our tip? Build in margin. Wander the expo hall. Visit the Member Center. Sit in the study zone. Sometimes the most impactful part of FP4C is the space between the sessions.
4. Don’t Skip the Social Stuff
“The cultural celebration was THE moment. Music, dancing, food, and joy. I didn’t realize how much I needed that.”
After a day of advocacy and academics, FP4C brings the joy. From the National Awards celebration to our after-hours cultural events, this is where connection and community really shine. Trust us, this is not the night to skip out early.
5. Start Prepping Now
- Thinking of submitting a poster or video? Get your topic outlined early.
- Know a rockstar leader? Nominate them for an award.
- Want to be on stage next year? Apply to lead a session or become a course director.
FP4C is built by you—for you.
Final Tip: Pack Purpose & Passion
Whether you’re flying solo or rolling deep with your chapter, FP4C is your space to grow, connect, and lead with heart. Come prepared, but stay open. You never know what connection, idea, or moment will change your path.
